Are you a brass player you've heard an album or a live performance by one of the giants of our instrument and was totally surprised by how they have complete control of the instrument? These giants like Maynard Ferguson, Wayne Bergeron, Bill Watrous, Slide Hampton? Not that these people are born with major powers and never had to practice more, who were animated by the desire to play. Parallel only support this desire. The support of family, friends, peers and authority figures as the directors of the band.
What is essential for all beginners, young and old is a strong support system. Family, friends and teachers all the need to rally students to help them believe in themselves and what they do! Statements such as … Ya, ya, that's fine, but can be done elsewhere that is not exactly a favorable environment in mind.
If you could go back in time and meet the key players are found to have been strongly supported by family and cohorts. Maynard Ferguson is an excellent example of this! His parents were both principals in Montreal, Quebec, Canada and he and his brother Percy grew, it received overwhelming support in all they did. If sport or music, came together to support their children.
As Maynard has progressed in his teens and has demonstrated a talent for playing the trumpet, their parents have nurtured that talent in him not only buy records, but at the same performance came. As Duke Ellington and Dizzy Gillespie, who were there.
The next thing a young player you need is the right tools. Teachers who do not really know what they are teaching can be a serious injury to a young player and their growth. The right approach and good books, as well as detailed instructions on how to perform each exercise is vital!
If you are a player who has no experience, exactly what precedes it is not too later. Trumpeters are more likely to seek such rank and power Maynard. The high notes that make the audience sitting in front of total awe and admiration – "What hurts? Is something wrong?
High notes are but the air is rapidly forced through a small hole. NO large volumes of air but rather violent rapidly moving compressed air through a small hole between his lips.
Sounds easy, Right? It is once it reaches the right concept.

Great Summit: The Master Takes $5.66 For starters, The Great Summit produced not only itself, both with this Master Takes set and the two-CD Complete Sessions, but also a later summit, Count Basie and Ellington’s tandem showdown, First Time. On its own, though, The Great Summit needs no later chapters to justify its celebrated standing in jazz annals. This was and is terrifically important music: Ellington is in grand form between re… |

Chocolat: Music from the Miramax Motion Picture (2001 Film) $7.09 Director Lasse Hallstrom’s recipe for Chocolat is bittersweet, a tale of human hope and frailty imbued with no small amount of symbolism. It’s a story that requires a deft, sensitive musical touch, and Hallstrom has wisely turned again to English composer Rachel Portman for the honors. As she did on The Legend of Bagger Vance and her previous, Academy Award-nominated collaboration with Hallstrom, … |

On the Road With Duke Ellington [VHS] $19.95 Filmed in 1967 and first shown in 1974, filmmaker Robert Drew’s hour-long documentary is less a biography of Duke Ellington, the man now widely regarded as the 20th century’s most important composer, than a brief slice of his remarkable life. “Every night I give a house party,” Ellington says of his days on the road, “and I’m the guest of honor.” Yet while there’s plenty of performance footage of … |
