Cron is a function in Unix and Linux operating systems that lets you plan your work and the work will be carried Date and time of removal the declaration of cron.

Initially, you can consider that this is too technical for you, but if you read this article. It is a characteristic that should be considered. Even if you do not need it now, remember cron on the day when you need it.

Apache with that characteristic and is easy to use the graphical user interface.

The format of cron is cron * * * * * Command to execute "Each asterisk represents a field of the order and may contain the following values. If you do not specify a value for this particular field, leave the asterisk in this position in the line of cron statement. Each of the five fields separated by spaces.

These are the values that each field (from left to right) can only be the asterisk:

Field Description Value ——– —–

00-59 minutes —– —— exact minute the cron executes

—— ——– 00-23 hours, time of day the cron running (0 = midnight)

—— ——— 01-31 days of the month, the cron runs

01.12 —— —— months of the year, the cron runs

Weekday — 00-06 —– ay of the week the cron executes
(Sunday = 0 Monday = 1 Tuesday = 2, etc)

Sequence varies Commands — —— command to execute

This led to the need for cron on our site has been our use of the software needed to copy the file in a master file ClickBank on the website periodically for Boomer eZine our copy stays with the teacher of ClickBank.

As we Get Busy and forget to do each week, a method to our web hosting service automatically perform this was the answer.

Cron Service is very flexible and can be configured to work with almost anywhere in the frequency, you can imagine.

Specifying a minute in the first field and the time (24 hours) in the second field and leave all other fields as asterisks, the specified program will run on the hour and minute of every day. If you want the program to run twice daily at 10 and 11 hours, you can write cron as:

CRON 0 10.11 * * * command to execute with the right combinations, you can set a task to run automatically in time of almost any can imagine.

Let's try something. Write a cron to run every Sunday at midnight.

If you have cron 0 0 * 0 * Command to execute ", then you are right. Zero is the first position. Zero in second place after midnight. The zero in the fifth (day of week) is Sunday. The configuration we used for our cron to update CD Box AD.

Set up a cron to run once a year on the last day year at midnight.

CRON 0 0 31 12 * Command to execute when using a graphical interface on your web server, CRON is easy to enter information

Sometimes, the role of Cron is hard to find in your control panel. If you find problems, send an email to the support group for your provider and ask if available and if so, where is located.

As I said before, you may not need now but not sure when it will be useful for you. You can simplify the job of managing your website.
