Who sang a song from the 60s, perhaps called "Get Him?

I have a tape or the song sung by a male group, possibly, the U.S. and it sounds very 60s. Like "I Will Follow Him" by Peggy March, but sung by men sounds a bit like the "Association". Lyrics go: "All my friends say that since you left I was alone and blue. Athinking It was only you. Why should it be otherwise? And the chorus goes" It is better than him (a) for (a) Da da da! You better of it (do) for (a) Da da da. "I was looking for this song on a CD for years and no luck. Any ideas?
