You Northern

Northern Cyprus is probably the best part of this Mediterranean island. With its mountain ranges and green valleys of the north is probably more fertile too. There are hundreds of pristine beaches and traditional villages of Cyprus with spectacular ocean views. In fact, many of the Greek Cypriots in the South agreed that North Cyprus is the better half of the island as well. Unfortunately, however these Greek Cypriots no longer live north of the island and themselves as refugees or displaced persons. You see, in 1974, Turkey invaded northern Cyprus and have occupied since despite international condemnation and trade embargoes numerous.
Nicosia, Cyprus is the last plunged the city in the world divided by a buffer zone of 3 km, which is controlled by troops from the force of peacekeepers from peacekeeping to the UN. Buildings abandoned in this area have remained intact since 1974 and lava fragments still in the lines of clothing to give a ghostly air to the region. Visitors to the part Greek Cypriot Nicosia can see no man's land from various points of view and even comment on a guestbook too. The pages of this book tell a story emotional in many prayers and wishes that it has added over the years. There is still a huge force of emotion and sentiment surrounding the "Cyprus Problem", even so far by those who vividly recall the events of that time.
Further east is even more worrying spectrum majority Resort Famagusta which is abandoned in the buffer zone. Tourist travel to Northern Cyprus people to see the remains of the once proud station and can still be see the damage to buildings Shell with all parties completely extinguished. Famagusta, once was the first resort in the Mediterranean and any luxury cruise worthy of this name had docked in the port of Famagusta. The resort has miles of beaches of white sand and crystal clear Mediterranean is beautiful. Visitors to this city "ghost" can not help but feel the tragic sense of loss that seeps into buildings ruins and miles of barbed wire.
If you take your holiday in Cyprus, near Famagusta, South Cyprus for pictures and images of the city with pride by many business owners. These people or their parents were expelled from their homes nothing more than they could carry. They have lost everything they ever owned when they fled to Northern Cyprus as land, homes and businesses leaving them penniless refugees. Despite of these loses most of them have rebuilt their lives and now have successful businesses in the south near the border. For most of them, however, the level of emotion has not improved due to the passage of time and see their ancient homeland across the border in northern Cyprus has not helped.
Since Turkey has expressed his desire to join the European Union, the "Cyprus problem" is again discussed and the pressure bought to bear. Nobody can predict how the stagnation be resolved but is likely a resolution that is on the table in a not too distant future. The whole question of Northern Cyprus is sure to open many old wounds and even been talk of compensation, including the return of Famagusta to the property in southern Cyprus. Who can say? Maybe one day soon, the beautiful resort Famagusta will grow again and the cruise ship detained in port. Then maybe, just maybe, there will be no borders and no state in northern Cyprus.
